Comments & Questions

Happy new year
I would like to wish all OpenMail.cc users a happy new year.

Problem Explained
Several people have contacted me wanting to know the cause of the recent down time. (see Problem solved below). The problem was with RoundCube webmail. An error in the PHP code of RC was causing the log files to grow so large, that there was no disk space left for the operating system to run correctly. This type of problem sneaks up slowly, and as I was on holiday at the time, I never discovered it until it was too late. The problem has been solved, and will not happen again.

I would like to add that in future, if problems like this should arise, please do not contact my service provider directly. My agreement with them does not include system administration and they are under no obligation to assist in these matters.

Problem solved
If anyone was having problems sending mail, our server issues have been resolved. Everything is up and running. If there are further issues, please contact the administrator from the contact page.

OpenMail.cc issues new SSL certificates
OpenMail.cc has issued new SSL certificates for both incoming and outgoing email. Please follow the instructions to the right, under "certificate information", to install the new certificates. These certificates are signed by niXtech Solutions, and are a step forward in providing a more secure email service.

I can no longer read my mail, why?
If you want to read your mail, you should use the "webmail" link above, or use a mail client like "Thunderbird". (see "server settings").

Your privacy is our concern
"Hi! As I'm looking for a new email provider, I've got a few questions - where do you host your service? Do you run your own servers or have you rented space from others? In which countries are your servers, and how is the law there regarding to the privacy of users? (f.e., are there any government agencies that you're required by law to give access to accounts?)

OpenMail.cc is hosted at niXtech.net in Denmark. We take our own privacy very seriously and we have the same high regard for the privacy of our users. No government agencies have ever required access to any OpenMail.cc accounts.

What happened to the "Quarrantine" function?
The "Quarrantine" function was a part of the webmail client which I developed, and which has now been replaced by roundcube. I am working on improving my webmail, and will possibly re-introduce it some time in the future.

OpenMail.cc changes service provider
Today the long awaited change took place, and OpenMail.cc is now hosted at http://www.niXtech.net. The change means that OpenMail.cc is now hosted on more powerful servers, with greater bandwidth. All this should improve response time, and give OpenMail.cc users a better email experience.
